Tell Us What You Want In An API
With the first release of our 2ndSite API we have had a lot of interest and a number of users taking full advantage of its capabilities. However, we have also had a lot of people saying what is there is good, but what they REALLY need is….
Without further adieu comes our outlook on what will be coming with the next release of the API.
The new features of the API can be categorized into two areas: must-haves, and nice-to-haves.
Must-Haves:
- Adding/editing/deleting multiple records (i.e. clients and invoices) at once to enable quick importing
- Adding/editing/deleting invoice payment records
- Adding/editing/deleting invoice items
- Adding/editing/deleting support tickets
Nice-To-Haves:
- Exporting clients and other records en-masse
- Adding/editing/deleting recurring profiles
- Adding auto-bill capable recurring profiles
- Processing credit card payments
- Adding/editing client contacts (secondary contacts on clients)
Let us know what you think our API should do for you by commenting below.

“I only use the invoicing feature at this time and it has made my life easy! However, I have people who pay ahead and it would be wonderful to show a credit balance on their invoices.”

“Jane and Valerie, thanks for the great ideas. I forwarded them on to the rest of our team. If you have any other ideas or comments, you can always send us feedback after clicking -logout- from inside your 2ndSite service.”

“I use the project summary/generate invoice facility all the time – which is brilliant. However, what I would like to see is a direct link from the invoice page to the project list page (perhaps projects should have a tab of their own?). At the moment I have to go to the timesheet page, and then the project list page, then click on the project, each time I do an invoice.”

What would be really cool is to let us do everything we can do on the Freshbooks site already…that way we could use your backend, but develop our own frontend on our own domain.
Sounds pretty sweet to me. It’d be a lot of work, but well worth it.

Actually I think moving this one up to the Must-Haves is a must have!
