So far, so good!

This morning you may have experienced a short period of downtime. This is because at 6:00 AM EDT we successfully upgraded our infrastructure as mentioned in yesterday’s blog post and last weeks email newsletter.

Hats off again to Rackspace for their “fanatical” support and great documentation that helped make this transition smooth.

It ain’t broke, but we’re still fixing it.

Although we have not had any problems, and virtually no un-planned downtime with our existing infrastructure in close to three years, we are being proactive and have decided to upgrade the technology used to provide you with your hosted service. To do this we are improving our infrastructure that is hosted by the same great managed hosting provider: Rackspace (http://www.rackspace.com).

The upgrade will provide you with faster processing speed along with added fail-safe’s to ensure your data is safe and always available to you should any un-foreseen incident occur. We will be maintaining all our existing security safeguards. We are also moving to more recent versions of our operating platforms.

Our new servers will mean your FreshBooks account runs faster than ever before. After the hardware and software upgrade is complete, our plan for the coming weeks is to add a number of improvements to our source code to speed page loading. We anticipate you will enjoy these changes.

The upgrade is scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday, May 2, 2006) between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM EST. Please expect a short period of downtime during this period.
