Following up on Levi’s last green office article, here are some additional energy saving tips that any office can try:

  • Turn down the lights.  Some times our office gets a little too hot in the summer.  We turn down some lights instead of turning up the AC.
  • Don’t use a screen saver; put your monitor on standby mode instead.  Most computers running on Windows or Mac lets you turn your monitor to stand-by-mode when it’s been idling for too long

An LCD monitor would much more expensive than a traditional CRT monitor. I guess you still have to weigh whether it’s working buying one just to save on power.

Hi Zenpcs,

I agree there are more considerations to be made between a CRT and LCD.

Here’s a good article for those who are undecided:

Why buy Halogen light bulbs when you could get compact fluorescent bulbs? They can be a little expensive, but your local power company might have coupons available.

Hi SR,

Thanks for the tip. I actually meant to say Fluorescent bulbs when I made this post, but I had mixed them up and said Halogen instead. I have updated my post. Thank you.

Don’t forget to extend these wonderful tips to your home as well!

It’s just the excuse that you’ve been looking for to order a 37″ LCD TV!!

Lasts twice as long, replaceable bulb, less energy and pretty sexy. Just remember to get around to hanging it on the wall. :)
