Faucet is Better Design
I saw this while I was at the Palace Hotel for the Web 2.0 Summit/Conference thing:

Notice – one faucet, not two. One faucet that poured warm water. Not water that was too hot, not water that was too cold, water that was just right for washing you hands. Great design.

Pretty cool as long as you don’t want some nice cool water to drink (assuming you aren’t in Vancouver right now).

haha nice.. it also actually helps reduce water waste since people do not have to try to get the temperature they want and wasting water in the proces.. it would also decrease the amount of time spent at the sink, thus pushing people through quite quickly.. I like it!

I hate the sensor sinks, even though you don’t even have to touch the tap. It only pours water for such a short period before you start waving your hand like crazy at the sensor again.

I agree. Sensors for automated faucets and hand dryers need improvement. However, if you think about how much money is saved in energy and water it might be worth it.

ok – what if you like hot water or if your like my son, you like washing your hands in ice cold water?

enoch – a fair question for sure. I think it’s basically a design for the most common use case…9 out of 10 people just want warm water.

It’s great design, for something that is used in a common, high traffic area such as public loos. And yes, this definitely wasn’t designed for the kitchen or home, where people will want the choice.
