Believe it or not some people.. Even those with children don't want to kids yapping and yipping it up outside.

Your home is a place you want some modicum of environmental control. I work from home quite a bit; I would hate to have kids playing a hotly contested game of street ball, hockey or basketball.

These are just personal, some people like the chatter of children... So do I but when we need quite...That means QUITE! “Can't do that to the neighborhood kids.” It’s a free country and all that jazz…not too mention the jock who never made its, kid. Your libel to get a punch in the noise for your efforts… maybe from the kid!

Thus the sign - It should say go to the park or perhaps there can be a set time for these games. But kids always break rules - just more headaches.

So the sign is good. :)

Daniel...you are breaking my heart...that sign is wrong...so wrong. Maybe we should add to the bottom of the sign, "Now go back inside and drink pop and play video games?" What do you think? Sounds safe to me...blech.

Kids should be able to play road hockey...this sign is probably there because somebody does not like the noise kids make when they are outdoors having fun, so they complained to the city. The street itself probably sees about 10 cars a day - no joke.

Makes me ill.

Sorry Mike,

I have to stick with my guns. I still believe that this sign is meant for the protection of children and youth who play on the streets. Public roads are designed for traffic, and I could see how those who play on the public roads with in coming traffic can present a danger to themselves. Ultimately, the purpose of this sign might be to prevent the situation of an accidental collision which everyone would likely want to avoid.

At the same time, the municipalities should not just put a sign up that just says hockey and ball sports are not allowed on the roads. They should say “Ball and Hockey Playing prohibited … on road, please play in hockey ring or tennis court across from the road”. One thing I don’t agree upon is placing a sign that says “ball sports are prohibited” and at the same time, not building a safe alternative environment to play in. Perhaps this sign is more about a community drive for public safety and the lack of municipal funding to support that public safety.

I hard time reading the sign but my initial reaction was that it was some sort of joke. Wow, that neighborhood is much deprived!
