Earlier this year (February-ish) I switched to Vista Business. When I switched I started using Microsoft’s native spam filtering software. Microsoft’s spam filtering software downloads updates nightly, and for a while it worked fine, but recently I’ve been barraged by spam and I finally snapped. I needed a solution, so I went back to Cloudmark Desktop — the service I had been using for the past four years.
After three days back on Cloudmark I have to admit I don’t know how I survived so long without it. It’s indispensable.

I love love love Cloudmark Desktop… except their Outlook-only support. I realize it’s because they’re targeted at corporations, but those big organizations are going to use server-side solutions anyways. So if you’re going to release a consumer-level product, shouldn’t you shoot higher? Gmail integration, OS X Mail, Thunderbird, et cetera.
I miss Cloudmark Desktop, but I won’t be returning to Outlook for it any time soon.

…And now I see they’re beta testing Cloudmark Desktop for Thunderbird 1.0.
I’ll gladly leave this post here and let myself look stupid.

I also love cloudmark because I don’t have to check my spam folder but they are having serious issues:
Cloudmark is currently crashing MS Outlook as of yesterday. Check out their support forums, lots of people with the same problem, many more probably have no idea why there outlook is no longer working.
Outlook Express seems unaffected.

Has anyone considered a 3rd party hosted solution that doesn’t require desktop integration? We provide hosted spam filtering services as well and like Cloudmark, can filter your mail for spam and viruses prior to them reaching your inbox. For those of you who run other operating systems other than Windows, this will work for you. Whether you use Apple Mail, Microsoft Entourage, Thunderbird, Eudora or use your favorite webmail service, as long as you own your domain name we can protect you from the hassles of spam. Also, with extremely low false positive rates and a Quarantine Report emailed to you daily, you do not have any fear of messages being blocked in error. If anyone is interested, please visit my website at http://www.bigmountaindesign.com
Thanks!

ps. I am also a Freshbooks user and love it!

I’m a HUGE fan of Cloudmark Spamnet… I’ve been using it for maybe 4 years now and even though we’ve spent the time and money of implementing server side solutions (and they did cut my personal spam down from over 2k messages per day to about 300), Spamnet gets the rest of them.
Love this program…
