PayPal just doesn't work within a business context - certainly not over here. But Realex are the defacto standard in Ireland and making great inroads into the UK. We simply haven't established the right kind of relationship there to move forward with something. We are at work on it, though. For now, to my knowledge you should be able to use PayPal's Website Payments Pro U.K. product in conjunction with FreshBooks. We've been unable to acquire a test account for ourselves to verify it works, but our users report it works just fine; you use our PayPal Payflow Pro integration, with "PayPalUK" as the "partner name." Recurring billing and the whole nine yards works with it, too. It's £20/month and the rates are a bit higher than a full gateway and merchant account, but it is a FreshBooks-compatible solution for now.
