Good information here. I used to always file an extension because I was never ready in time and my accountant didn't do her bit to help me get ready. So, I stayed paranoid and stressed for ANOTHER 6 months and ouch, did that hurt. Solution. I found another accountant that has kept me on my toes and made certain that everything is in good order and ready to go by 4/15. Writing that check to the IRS may hurt but at least the agony didn't have to be prolonged for another 6 mos.
