Feature tweak: Partial payments

We’ve long heard about how hard it is to tell which invoices have been partially paid – and how much is outstanding – when you are looking at your list of invoices. Today we’ve added a new status to invoices called “partial” which indicates part of the invoice has been paid. We’ve also implemented a tidy little rollover effect (check out the screen shot) so that you can quickly see how much is outstanding and how much was paid.
Thanks for all the feedback and we hope you enjoy this little tweak.

Thanks FB team.
Well done. Minimalist and effective. Very useful.

This is great. It works perfectly, even across a variety of invoices and payments for a given client where the invoice amount & date and payment amount & date don’t match up.
Thanks for rolling this out.

Seems like this Is for new invoices only, right? We have an invoice that’s been partially paid for and the new (very cool) feature doesn’t show up.
4:29 pm
noticed that today. great feature. thanks!
Angie, I’m seeing it on old invoices as well.

Oh, I messed up – the invoice I was looking at *technically* has a partial payment but it was a workaround and not a partial payment the way FB handles it since the client wanted to pay with CC (FB doesn’t allow partial payments with CC).

Love the new add on. Would like to see if you can do that for the bottom of the invoice page to read Invoice Total (which is there now) and then underneath have what the outstanding balance total is. This would help us financial people in the office.
Thanks again for the new updates. Keep it up team.
Best,

My clients mainly pay with CC and have been asking if they can make partial payments. Any plans to allow this?

Does this mean I can send a client 1 invoice for the total amount for a project, and they can pay 50% online … then pay the remaining 50% later?

@peggy @debbi noted. Thanks for letting us hear what’s on your mind. Presently we have no plans to allow partial credit card payments as you describe.
