The FreshBoooks Supper Club Newsletter

Did you know that FreshBooks has a monthly newsletter called the FreshBooks Supper Club?

If you read November’s Supper Club and watch the all the videos, you will see that two of the three videos are connected in some not so obvious pop culture way…if you think you think you know how they are connected, just drop your answer in the comment field of this here post (with your correct email address in case you win!) or email me and I will let you know if you won.

I’m not sure what the prize will be yet, but it will be something cool…not as cool as a NEW CAR or a 60 lbs bar of silver…but I have a feeling it will be way cooler than my “Saul’s Birthday Present” present from the newsletter…cause that may be cheese!

Oh man, I have no idea how those videos relate. I hope you will tell us once you have a winner!

How about first kisses at New Years’ Eve parties, between Harry and Sally, as well as Seth and Summer?

I think the link is “In the Land of Women” which starred Adam Brody and Meg Ryan. I’m certain that Meg Ryan kisses Adam Brody and Billy Crystal.
A little while ago we tried something a little different on the FreshBooks blog and let me tell you it went over as well as Kool Aid in Jonestown.
You guys really have bad taste. To make fun or self-depreciating humor by comparing your inability to market a contest to the tragdy that was the Jonestown suicide/murders of the 70s is bad/low taste AT BEST.

Can you guys make an attempt to be more sensitive to the people who were affected by these murders or any other murder/despicable act next time.

Sheesh.

[for those who may not know what i am talking about, I am referring to an email post I recieved from freshbooks. see below]

“Worst Contest Ever?
A little while ago we tried something a little different on the FreshBooks blog and let me tell you it went over as well as Kool Aid in Jonestown. Ya see we hid a secret contest inside the last Supper Club and told people to find it. Well the lesson I learned was that you can’t hide things too well because if it wasn’t for Connie Crosby (Hi Connie!) with her one comment on the post it would have been nothing but crickets. Anyway I still want to give away the prize for this so go check it out and here is a HUGE clue. Two of the three videos are connected with a kiss.”

I thought it was very funny… You might want to stay off the internet… if things like this tend to upset you.

It was Flavor-Aid, not Kool-Aid.

Oh yeah.

To Mike Crockett: Funny how so many people are desensitized to the various tragedies of life these days. So I guess if someone made a joke about something tragic that happened to you or one of your family members – you would laugh and say “oh it was very funny, ha ha, tell me another joke about how my mom was killed.”

I am only stating that is was in bad taste. Regardless of how vocal people today seem to be because of the anonymity of the internet – some things should be consider sacred.

I am sure freshbooks would never say what they wrote if the forum would have been a seminar or press conference (with real live humans looking back at them).

And yes I know on the internet people say cruel things all the time.

Hey Everyone!

First let me say that we have a winner!

Bob was the first one to make the connection that Meg Ryan makes out with Adam Brody in the movie In the Company of Men.

Congrats to Bob and your victory will be even sweeter once you get your prize.

Secondly I would like to apologize to Jeffrey for offending him in any way. I take responsibility for it and in no way was making light of the events in Jonestown but rather using a very common pop culture reference and while this is no excuse I hope you see that it was not meant to be mean spirited or bring up any bad feelings.

My email is saul@freshbooks.com if you would like to discuss this further
