Online Payments Experiencing Difficulties

by John Coates  |  December 9/2010  |

Update (Dec. 10, 2010 9:30am EST) : All payments gateways are now processing payments and should be functioning normally. Check the FreshBooks status page for the latest updates. If you or your customers had difficulties with any of the following gateways (Authorize.net, PayPal Websites Payment Pro, PayPal Payflow Pro), FreshBooks was having difficulties reaching them yesterday (Dec. 9, 2010). We disabled access to them for a period of hours, and have since reinstated it and everything is working fine.

Today, online payment gateways, such as Authorize.net, were experiencing difficulties processing payments.  This meant that when FreshBooks was trying to process transaction on behalf of our users, users were seeing failed transactions throughout today as the payment gateways were not responding. The online payments gateways have now mostly resolved any hiccups and FreshBooks recurring billing has been run if available.

However, we have chosen to disable access to PayPal Websites Payment Pro and PayPal Payflow Pro.  Therefore, these payment gateways will continue to be unavailable tonight and tomorrow as a precaution. If you’re using PayPal Payflow Pro for recurring billing via FreshBooks, your recurring transactions not be run tomorrow morning. Once these payment gateways are back to a full functioning order, FreshBooks will process the payments. Check the FreshBooks status page for all updates.

Yesterday we identified the customers that were billed over and over in Auth.net.

However the status remained as ‘retry’ for the invoice. Meaning FreshBooks will retry again. What do we do here?

    Hi Shane,

We will need to take a look at your account in order to better answer your question, but recurring profiles that say ‘retry’ will be retried in the morning once more. Please call us at 1-866-303-6061 and we’ll be happy to sort it out for you.

    Best Regards,

    -Daniel
