[SXSW Interview] Pricing Your Services with Jim Hopkinson

by Faraz Shafaghi  |  March 19/2013  |  , ,

So you’re in the process of courting a prospective client, but there’s a giant elephant in the room: pricing.

  • When should the topic be brought up?
  • How much should you charge?
  • How do you present yourself like a pro who’s worth the dough?

Enter Jim Hopkinson, author of salarytutor.com and the man behind thehopkinsonreport.com who answered these very questions for us last week at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin. Click on the video above to get his insight on the dilemma of pricing.

Please hire a real video/audio editor. Horribly choppy; didn’t get more than 30 seconds in before I couldn’t take it. My 2 cents rounded up to a nickel… :)

You know – sometimes it takes a second (or third…or maybe even a tenth) set of eyes to really see things straight. You’re bang-on, and we’ve swapped out the vid with a new one that hopefully makes it easier to digest. Greatly appreciate your two cents, though knowing that pennies are going the way of the dinosaur in Canada, we may take ‘em, melt ‘em and make a buck or two from the copper :p. Thanks again for your feedback!
