FreshBooks Welcomes Google Checkout Users

by Gary Mirsky  |  May 21/2013  |

Yesterday, Google announced that it was retiring its Checkout product effective November 20th 2013. With this announcement, they’ve recommended that users switch to FreshBooks to continue billing online. We’re honoured that Google has recommended us, so if you need stellar invoicing to integrate seamlessly with online payments, start a trial with FreshBooks and you’ll be up and running in no time.

And if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to our rockstar support team, available by phone or email to help you weekdays between 9am and 6pm EST. Drop us a line, we’d love to help.

But what does this mean for current freshbooks/google checkout customers. Will google wallet integrate with freshbooks? If so when should we expect details on how to do that?

    Hi there Mike,

This is Ramin from FreshBooks. The announcement from Google was to let people know that they are shutting down Google Checkout on November 20th and they want to give business owners some time to find another service/payment gateway to run their business.

This means you can continue using Google Checkout to receive payments from your clients but you may want to look at other payment solutions so you are ready when November comes by. I would recommend looking at Stripe (stripe.com) and Braintree (braintreepayments.com)

If you want more details on the announcement from Google, I would look at this post: https://support.google.com/checkout/sell/answer/3080449

Let me know if you have any other questions and I will get back to you as soon as I can

I think you meant Nov. 12, 2012 (not 2013), because that would be in the future!

Well deserved! You guys are amazing!!!!

    Hi Rshok,

Is stripe and Braintree both integrated with Freshbooks already? Can you offer some supporting links for this?

    Thanks,

  • Zach Dyer

    Nice!

    Hi Jev!

Tim from FreshBooks here! Stripe and Braintree are both integrated, you can see them under “Settings” –> “Online Payments” in your FreshBooks account.

For Stripe, you’ll need to get the API key from your Stripe account in the account settings, for brain tree, you can follow the instructions on this blog post: http://www.freshbooks.com/blog/2012/11/01/braintree-is-your-newest-freshbooks-payment-gateway/

Hope that helps! If you have further questions, I’d recommend sending us a shout at support [at] freshbooks dot com, or give us a toll free call. We’ll be happy to help you out.
