SAS Data Warehouse Engineer

FreshBooks is looking for a senior and very experienced SAS Data Warehouse Engineer to lead us in architecting and managing the FreshBooks data warehouse.

Data is a big part of our business and your proven leadership skills in building, architecting, growing and maintaining our data warehouse will ramp us up and keep us out in front. You will move quickly, make smart decisions and manage all the fine details. This is a senior role where experience architecting the assembly of flexible data marts and OLAP cubes from operational source databases and APIs is a must.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Leading us in architecting and managing the FreshBooks data warehouse.
• Directing Development and Operations as they expand and enrich the data in the warehouse.
• Rapidly building data marts and OLAP cubes from our numerous source systems and work smartly with the Business Analysts and Stakeholders to develop and refine reports that will drive the organization.
• Dealing with deprecated data and other data quality issues before they become a problem to your internal customers.
• Setting up automated QA processes that alert Business Analysts that assumptions about underlying data have changed before they base business decisions off of them.
• Initiating a metadata and ETL processes backup strategy.

We need you to have:

• Proven experience working with SAS data warehousing and reporting products.
• Minimum 3 years of experience leading the creation and maintenance of data warehouses.
• Very serious SQL chops.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Fanatical attention to detail.

We hope you have:

• Scripting language experience, as part of the role involves moving manual Ruby & Python reports to the SAS data warehouse.
• Familiarity in a *NIX environment.
• JSON/XML parsing skills.
• Experience working with a message bus (i.e. streaming data).
