FreshBooks Supper Club August 2008

Wow! Is it the August edition of Supper Club already? Where did the summer go? Oh well, like always, this virtual gathering of intelligent and very good looking people happens once a month and is delivered directly to your inbox. We do it this way because newsstands keep telling us that they won’t print it and offer it to you guys. In here we jam an assortment of profiles of the beautiful and talented people who use FreshBooks (Fresh Faces), Contests, FreshBooks Tips and Tricks, and my favourite, news and stuff from inside the FB walls. Among other things, this section will also outline what events and cities we will be visiting to spread the good word of FreshBooks.

FreshBooks Vista Time Tracking Gadget

When we announced that we developed a MAC OS X time tracking widget for FreshBooks we heard screams of JOY from MAC users everywhere... and we also heard a few things from Vista users like “Hey, What about us?” and “We are people to!” so with that in mind we are thrilled to announce that there is now a super slick FreshBooks Vista Time Tracking Gadget available for download from the Add Ons page. Go check it out and give it a try!

Remember Our Little iPhone Contest?

Between you and me we were hoping a handful of folks would enter to win Saul’s personal “retro” iPhone contest but much to our surprise we had 10000x more interest than we could ever have imagined. Because of this amazing response, and because Saul was so honoured that people want his old stuff, he is currently rummaging through his garage looking for other gently used “souvenirs” of his that we can offer as prizes in the future!

Oh, the winner of the contest is Scott Falkner from Vancouver B.C.

Saul says he will be sending it out as soon as he can figure out how to remove all his Spice Girls albums from the phone!

SXSW Panel Picker

So the FreshBooks crew went out for lunch the other day and all received fortune cookies...we thought it was kinda strange since we were eating chicken and waffles but we were still hungry so we cracked them open and as surprised as we were to get fortune cookies we were even more surprised to all get the same exact fortune.

It read “You can ask for a favour...but only once a year”. We all thought it was creepy cool and mysterious and decided we needed to jump on this and ask you all for our “once a year” favour. FreshBooks is being considered for four speaking slots at next year’s SXSW Interactive festival and the way you get selected is by voting... so I guess what I am trying to hide behind my story about delicious Chicken and Waffles is a request. Can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take a second and vote for our panels. We promise we won’t ask for anything else this year!

The topics of the panels are:

• Scaling your Culture without losing the “Secret Sauce”
• Personality Marketing doesn’t mean you are ugly
• Building Personal and Company brands with Web 2.0 tools
• Customer Service is the New R&D

Art Directors Club

We love a lot of things here at FreshBooks (we have big hearts) and one of those things happen to be the Art Directors Club of NYC. Because we love them so much we are honoured to be sponsoring Young Guns 6.

Young Guns brings together the best of the best to show their work and what better way to bring people together than a party! If you are interested in joining and seeing something pretty amazing you can get all the info here and if you come make sure you say to me... er I mean Saul!

Quick Hits

We are planning a party with MediaBistro to be held in NYC on September 9th. We don’t have all the details yet but once we do we will post them on the FreshBooks Blog.

We had so many people offer to throw a FreshBooks Party (Tupperware style) last month that we haven’t even responded to most of them. If you have not heard from us we will be reaching out soon. We are taking a little extra time to make out FreshBooks Party kits just a little cooler! (and by cooler we don’t mean an ice cooler... we mean cool like Fonzie.)
