Web App Workshop: Customers Come Together in Toronto

We’d just like to give a big shout out to all the folks that attended our second ever workshop on How To Build a Web App Business here at FreshBooks HQ. We had about 40 super smart FreshBooks customers and fans turn out to hear Mike share his valuable lessons and insights about how to get their own web apps started and what’s really important. Some even got a bit of a thrill from our toilet wisdom. After two back-to-back events here in Toronto we figure it’s time to take the show on the road. Which brings us to our next post…

Where Should We Hold Our Next Web App Workshop? Vote Now!

You may recall that earlier in this newsletter we told you that we wanted to take our Web App Workshop on the road. Well, it’s true! And to make it way more exciting, we’ve decided to put it to the people and host the workshop in the city of your choice. Well, not just yours, but the collective yours of course. So, if you’d like Mike and his travelling band to visit your town to share his insights on how to build a web app business, then let us know by voting here. The city/town/village that comes together to generate the most votes will be announced on our blog.

Get All YOUR Invoices, Estimates etc. in FreshBooks

OK, so your clients love getting estimates and invoices from you in FreshBooks. So we thought, heck, you should love it too. You can now invite all your contractors to send you invoices, expenses and estimates in FreshBooks. Sweet!

That means no more sifting through emails or ground mail to manage your incoming paperwork. You can now have everything go directly into your FreshBooks account – everything in one place in one standard format. And of course you can easily convert your contractor invoices into expenses and re-bill your clients. When you log in as the admin you’ll see a new blue box that gives you three quick links to invite your network to come together and start using FreshBooks. We’ve also put the option in a few more places that you can read about here.

And check this out, 1 out of every 5 FreshBooks customers is now connected to another FreshBooks customer. We put a pretty cool visualization of how this is happening here — it’s kind of a connect the dots gone wild. So, what are you waiting for?! Invite away!

You ordered them and we finally got them. Thanks to the 3721 fans that requested a free copy of Entrepreneur Magazine with us on the cover. You should have seen the mess it made on our floor when each one was slipped through our mail slot! You think they would have all come together. But, undaunted we'll have all our copies stacked, packed and smack over to you this week. So start pressing your face against the window looking for the postman to deliver your copy.

Camp FreshBooks: Our Annual Cottage Weekend

This may be news to you, but every year since FreshBooks started we’ve hosted a weekend in cottage country for the entire crew. This year was no exception as we made the 2.5 hour trek north of the city to come together for a weekend of fun in the sun (or in this case, insane in the rain). Now, it’s one thing when the company is 6 people, but when you’re 30… things get interesting. Needless to say it was lots of fun and we wish you could have been there.
