Your FreshBooks account is now more secure than ever. With Touch ID and Passcode, you can use your unique fingerprint or a 4-digit code to lock your FreshBooks app on the iPhone and iPad.
It’s available to download from the App Store right now and works with all iOS devices.
Note: Touch ID works only with Apple devices that have the fingerprint reader – iPhone 5S and newer; and iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3. If you don’t have a Touch ID device, don’t worry, you can still secure FreshBooks with Passcode.
Why should I care?
If you’re like most people your phone is always with you. But once in a while – very, very rarely – someone else might hold it. Perhaps a friend is looking at some photos, or a stranger needs to make an emergency call, or little Timmy wants to play some games.
With Touch ID and Passcode you can lock your FreshBooks app so that no one but you will have access to your business information and little Timmy won’t send any rogue invoices between games of Temple Run.
How does it work?
If you have Auto Update turned on (and most people do), the update will be waiting for you next time you launch FreshBooks. If you don’t, simply launch the App Store and press the ‘Update’ button next to FreshBooks to manually update.
When you launch FreshBooks after updating, you’ll be greeted with a tour slide and a big, green ‘Enable’ button:
Tap that button and you’ll be asked to create a Passcode (this is a FreshBooks Passcode and different from your iPhone/iPad one). For Touch ID users, this code is a fail safe in case Touch ID isn’t working (cold or wet fingers sometimes don’t work). For Passcode users, this is the primary way you’ll access your account.
Enter your Passcode, confirm it, and you’re done! Next time you open FreshBooks you’ll find an extra layer of super security!
How do I turn it off?
Turning Touch ID off (and accessing even more Touch ID options) is easy – tap the little gear icon at the top right of the FreshBooks home screen then select ‘Passcode and Touch ID’. From here you can:
- Turn Touch ID and Passcode on or off
- Change how long before FreshBooks automatically locks, and
- Change your 4-digit Passcode
Get Your Security On
No matter what iPhone or iPad you’re using you can add this additional layer of security right now. Simply head over to the App Store and get the new FreshBooks app update.
