How do I export data out of FreshBooks?

Click on any of the below for specific steps:

  • Clients & Staff
  • Invoices
  • Items & Expense Receipts
  • Reports

  • Clients & Staff

    1. Go to My Account (top corner)
    2. Click on the Import & Export sub-tab
    3. Click on the Comma Separated File (CSV) next to Export Clients, Invoices, Staff and Timesheets
    4. Click on either Clients or Staff to download
    5. A CSV file will download.

    Invoices

    There are two ways to download invoices - as a CSV file or as PDFs:

    CSV File:

    1. Go to My Account (top corner)
    2. Click on the Import & Export sub-tab
    3. Click on the Comma Separated File (CSV) next to Export Clients, Invoices, Staff and Timesheets
    4. Click on Invoices to download
    5. A CSV file will download to your computer.

    PDF:

    1. Go to the Invoices
    2. At the bottom corner, click on the all x pages link (x equaling whatever total pages you have)
    3. Check the box next to Invoice at the top of the list (all invoices should be selected)
    4. Click the Print button
    5. All invoices will download as PDFs to your computer.

    Items & Expense Receipts

    We have tools in the backend that will export all items out as a CSV file and all receipts as a .zip file (date range optional upon request).

    Reports

    Go to the Reports tab in your FreshBooks account and run any report you need. There will be an Export to button in the top right corner of the report to save it as an Excel or CSV file.
