Why do I have an extra 3% fee on my subscription to FreshBooks?

You may find that you’re being charged an additional 3% on your payments to us for your FreshBooks subscription.

The reason for this is due to us being based in Canada, where our payment processors for Visa and Mastercard are. Our payment processor for AMEX is in the United States.

If you are from outside of Canada and are trying to pay us with a Visa/Mastercard, you may be getting charged an additional 3% for international transaction fees implemented by your credit card company/issuing bank. The same rules apply for people trying to pay with AMEX who are outside of the United States.

NOTE: We do not collect this transaction fee, the banks do. There is no way we can prevent the charges from happening.
