What This Means for Freelancers

  • Development has a significant presence.

And for obvious reasons. The word “development” appears in almost half of the top 20 freelance skills listed. Whether your focus is on mobile (like iOS or Android) or is web-based (like Shopify or WordPress), development is amongst the hottest skills to have this quarter.

  • Focus on content marketing.

People are on the hunt for high-quality content—not just the mediocrity that lives across the web today. As a result, the most rapidly growing content skills this quarter include SEO writing, video editing and proofreading.

  • Make room for future advancements.

Businesses are looking for experts to help position themselves as forward-thinking companies. As a freelancer, this is where you come in. In a world where robotics and virtual reality will eventually become the norm, skills that go hand-in-hand with these trends will also be in demand.
