1. Gather Everything

You only need a couple of things to get started. You’ll have to buy standard letter size white paper. Unlike printing a check, you don't need special paper to print deposit slips. You also don’t need a special printer and can use any printer to print deposit slips.

2. Use Software to Print Deposit Slips

There are various deposit slip printing software. Due to the nature of deposit slips, make sure to read the reviews before choosing one because you’ll have to provide sensitive data like bank information.

For simplicity, this guide will talk about Online Check Writer, which has multiple pricing options, including a free option.

3. Create an Account

If you don’t already use Online Check Writer, you’ll need to create an account with your email information.

4. Account Setup

You’ll only need a few things for the setup. First, you’ll have to connect a bank account or bank accounts if you have more than one. Online Check Writer integrates with 16k+ banks, including Wells Fargo and Bank of America, for your convenience.

Next, you’ll have to add information for relevant users like yourself and your clients.

5. Start Creating Your Deposit Slip Forms

Once you have the setup ready, here are the steps to create your deposit slip:

  1. Start by clicking +Create on the screen.
  2. Click Deposit Slip from the menu.
  3. Click New on the screen.
  4. Select a bank account. Once you choose a bank account, the appropriate bank deposit slip templates with the correct bank logo will become available.
  5. Fill in relevant data like adding the deposit date and filling the to and from boxes.
  6. Add the cash amount on each box for the items or services. The software will automatically add the total amount for you.
  7. Repeat the process for checks you want to deposit.
  8. Add information to the Misc box. This includes deposit details that are relevant to the entry, like transaction information and check number.
  9. Write a memo. Memos are a note-to-self in case you need to search for a specific deposit in the future.  Put a keyword that'll make it easy to search.
  10. Click Create deposit slip.
  11. Click on the eye symbol. Review your deposit slip form before printing to make sure it’s ready for the bank teller to deposit at the bank.
  12. (Optional) Export deposit slip. You can export the specific deposit slip or multiple deposit slips.

Benefits of Deposit Slip Software for Record-Keeping

Having a copy of your deposit slip form is good for record-keeping use. Typically, when you use a deposit slip provided by your bank, you’ll get a receipt from the bank with just the total amount. The information of each check you deposit isn’t broken up. When you print with online software, you get to keep an itemized copy of your deposit slip independent from the bank.

This is an easy way to keep track of every deposit you’ve ever had across multiple banks.

Using online deposit slip software to print forms also simplifies the process of bank reconciliation. Online Check Writer allows you to integrate with your bank to reconcile multiple deposits. Catch any errors caused by you or your bank quickly to make sure your financial statements are in order.

Streamline the Process of Filling Deposit Slips

You’re no longer stuck having to fill countless deposit slips by hand. Even if you have bank accounts with multiple banks, it's easy to print a deposit slip with the right slip templates.

Printing deposit slips also allows you to manage your deposits easily for record-keeping.

If possible, make it known that you accept other payments besides a check. One way to do this is by outlining all payment methods you accept on your invoices. Choose from various deposit invoice templates and start getting paid digitally to reduce the need for deposit slips altogether.
