Study: US Self-Employed Professionals and Small Business Owners Embrace Career Independence
March 22, 2017
Today, new research released by FreshBooks takes a comprehensive look at individuals earning their primary income from self-employment. Compared to recent studies on the gig economy (McKinsey Global Institute, Freelancers Union) this is the first and largest study to examine the mindsets, motivations and challenges of the self-employed economy in North America.
With responses from over 1,700 participants, FreshBooks takes a deep dive into key considerations for self-employed professionals, such as sales and prospecting, outsourcing, financial management, safety net, politics, family balance.
The study reveals the rewards of self-employment far outweigh the challenges. In fact, more than 7 in 10 participants in our study said they are satisfied with their decision to work for themselves and have no intentions to seek a traditional job.
The key takeaway: The self-employed economy is here to stay and the challenges facing career independence are worthwhile. Click here to read the study.
